Recruitment ads

There are three crucial elements in successful recruitment messages:

  • Statement of need - say why is the volunteer activity important and what need is going to be met e.g. 'Many penguins have lost their way and are dying, they need help to return to the wild.'
  • Nature of the task - say what the volunteer role involves and how this meets the need e.g. 'You can help penguins regain their independence.' Give some idea about time commitments. 'Can you volunteer for one day a month?'
  • Benefits - what the volunteer will get out of the experience: personal satisfaction or useful experience. Don't forget to mention expenses, support and training. 'Full training and expenses provided.'
